Destiny in Disguise Series Book 1 pp328

There is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and it’s called the Daintree Wilderness in Far North Queensland. To get there is an easy drive along bitumen roads in a high powered car. You will be amazed at the beauty and uniqueness of the flora and fauna and the breath-taking scenery of the mountains and river.

Go back to the 1920s and along with a pregnant mother and five little children under 12 imagine that journey again. The journey from Bray’s Creek in northern New South Wales was long and arduous with a stopover in Rockhampton for the birth of child number six. The cruise up the Daintree River on a ferry gave a glimpse of the dangers that lurked all around from gigantic saltwater crocodiles, amethystine pythons, wild pigs, evidence of flash floods and the density of the rainforest.

Destination Daintree is an historical novel based on a real family who face tragedy with courage and resilience. In 1926 six children under 12 years of age were taken by their parents into the beautiful but inhospitable environment of the Daintree in Far North Queensland. They were joined by 15 year old, red headed English orphan, George Whittaker, nick-named Ginger, who was desperately seeking a family to call his own.
